How ICTs Are Changing the Way We Live

ICT's have in many ways changed the landscape of business, culture and social life in the different societies in the world.

The use and application of Free/Libre and Open Source Software tools have in most cases accelerated the use and deployment of ICT's in Africa and the rest of the developing world.

As part of their 2010 conference, eLearning Africa is launching a photography competition called ‘How ICTs Are Changing the Way We Live’. The competition is designed to illustrate how people are living, learning, and working with information and communication technologies (ICTs). The organisers seek to understand how ICTs - including mobile phones, the Internet, and computers - have permanently changed life in Africa.

The prizes are as follows:

  • First prize: Canon PowerShot S90 photo camera (valued at €390)
  • Second prize: Flip UltraHD Camcorder (valued at €190)
  • Third prize: iPod Nano 8 GB (valued at €125)

A jury will select the winners, and the ten best photos will be featured in an exhibition from May 26-28 at eLearning Africa 2010 in Lusaka, Zambia. The winners will be announced on the website. The story behind the pictures will be published in the eLearning Africa Newsletter, which is distributed to thousands of people in Africa and all over the world.

Closing date: 26 April 2010
