Training book on FOSS business models launched at Idlelo 4

Medaase to everyone who has put there thought and energy into the training materials!The Idlelo Gala Dinner last night was the perfect location to launch the training handbook: “ict@innovation : Free your IT Business in Africa! ” in a befittingly festive atmosphere. The training guide compiles all the advanced training materials on African Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) business models for small and medium enterprisers in the IT-industry. More than 50 people from all over Africa and beyond have contributed to this material over two years and have put together a wealth of knowledge with detailed examples and case studies of FOSS entrepreneurs from all across the African continent, model presentations, assessment tests, exercises and assignments.


At the launch of the book, Nnenna, FOSSFA Council Chair acknowledged this book as a great joint achievement and its meaning for ICT business in Africa. Balthas Seibold from InWEnt – Capacity Building International of Germany thanked those involved and made a strong point what a community effort the creation of this book has been: “We are most grateful to the pan-African Team who has built the material, and who was led by Mr Sulayman Sowe from UNU-Merit as well as to the training facilitation team of AITI-KACE, Mr Kofi Kwarko, Mr Fred Yeboah and Ms Shirley Akasrekus, who has trained more than 80 FOSS Business Models Trainers based on “Free your IT business in Africa".We invite all of you to get in touch with this pool of African ict@innovation experts and trainers at the ict@innovation portal

 The first 100 copies of the book are being distributed at the Idlelo conference. So, if you are not here at Idlelo – how do you get this training handbook? Firstly, you can download a soft copy here on the website. Secondly, InWEnt will be printing more copies and is offering to send these to interested persons and multipliers. We will shortly announce the process how these will be distributed – watch out for more information on this site!
